Vacancy: Personal Assistant

We are looking for an assistant to support an individual during their time on the Channel 4 ‘Content Creatives’ traineeship. The role will span the duration of the work placement part of the traineeship and is embedded within the 4Studio team within Channel 4.

This role would include physical support with mobility, alongside organisational and administrative assistance to support the trainee day-to-day in the role. Having an existing knowledge of the creative sector would be an added advantage in supporting the trainee to maximise their knowledge and learning at the beginning of their creative sector career. Flexible availability during the 16 weeks is also critical, as the working patterns are not fixed.

Primary working location: Channel 4, The Majestic, City Square, Leeds LS1 2HT *please note other working locations may be required.

Hours: Circa 8-16 hours p/w (e.g 9:00am- 17:00pm *please note these hours may vary week by week)

Rota: 1 or 2 working days a week, Monday-Friday. *please note the number/order of days may vary week by week.

Duration: Immediate start until 8th March 2024.

Employment basis: The opportunity is offered on a part-time, self-employed basis with no benefits offered. A DBS check will be required for this role.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide physical assistance to support the trainee with their mobility and balance from taxi into building at the start and end of each working day, around the offices, into lift and access to the WC’s, as well as any external locations, studios and buildings throughout the working day.
  • Support with holding and carrying bags and equipment etc
  • Provide organisational and admin support (diary management and remote transport logistics communication from point of travel commencing from home)
  • Attend the in-person trainee’s meetings and training sessions
  • Build a rapport to provide business support and pastoral care and support for the trainee’s wellbeing during the course and placement.
  • Support the trainee with their professional development and skills in the workplace (communicating with others, networking)
  • While the trainee’s days will often be planned out in advance, you may be asked to help with unplanned and unscheduled tasks.

Job Criteria, Skills & Experience:

Essential Person Criteria:
  • Based in the Leeds/Bradford area and able to travel independently.
  • Be available immediately and interested in part-time work.
  • Patient and kind. Able and prepared to turn your hand to multiple, undefined tasks.
  • Good organisational skills.
  • Experienced in a role that enables and supports others.
  • Interested in disability, in learning more about it and championing equity and inclusion in the workplace.
  • As you will be in a professional office environment, you should be comfortable mixing with people of all ages, backgrounds and beliefs.
  • Flexible communication skills; able to adapt quickly and facilitate and enhance comms for another person.
  • Have no issues with physically supporting someone’s basic mobility (i.e. no prior health conditions or a disability that would be adversely affected by the physical task of carrying a heavy bag and supporting someone get up and balance whilst walking)
Desirable Experience & Skills:
  • Have a media background (e.g experienced in TV or digital media environment)
  • Have a background in an organisational focused role (e.g Production Management, Administrative, PA or project management roles)
