'FOOT IN THE DOOR 2022'
frequently asked questions

Please note: applications for the 'Foot In The Door 2022' with The Andy Taylor Foundation are now closed but please check back regularly for details of future opportunities.

This course aims to offer opportunities to those currently underrepresented in the creative industry, so we would really like to hear from disabled people, ethnically diverse people and people from lower socio-economic groups who live in Greater Manchester.

Yes. The course is for young people aged between 18 and 24. You must be within this age range on the closing date for applications – Monday 14th March 2022 at 5pm.

The course is for 12 weeks in total and starts on Monday 16th May 2022.

The 6 week SharpFutures bootcamp in partnership with the Andy Taylor Foundation is from Monday 16th May 2022 until Friday 24th June 2022 and then the 6 week work placement begins on Monday 27th June 2022 until Friday 5th August 2022. Trainees need to be available on Bank Holidays in June.

If your application reaches the next stage, you will need to have an interview.

The interviews will take place online between Monday 21st March 2022 – Friday 8th April 2022.

By Tuesday 19th April you will know if you have been successful. This will give you 4 weeks before the start date of the course for you to inform your employer if needed.

Yes, you will get paid. The wage will be the real living wage which at the time is £9.90 per hour for 35 hours per week.

Unfortunately, this course is only available to young people who live within the Greater Manchester region. The Greater Manchester region includes the council boroughs of Bolton, Bury, Oldham, Manchester, Rochdale, Salford, Stockport, Tameside, Trafford and Wigan.

No, you don’t. For the duration of the course (12 weeks) you’ll be supplied with a laptop so that you can access software, programmes and content during the SharpFutures training and your work placement. Some limited funds will be available to improve your internet/WIFI connectivity if required. All technology will be required to be returned at the end of the course.

Unfortunately, you can’t. The course is full time between 9am and 5pm, Monday to Friday so you would need to be available at those times.

The course is not open for those in full time education between May and August (during the course and work placement). If you are leaving college/university before May then you can apply.

This course is designed to give you an overview of lots of different content production that occurs in Greater Manchester and the North West. You do not need specific experience to take part in the course but knowledge of social media content, TV channels, streaming services (such as YouTube, Netflix, Amazon Prime, Disney+) and an interest in creative content would be a plus in your application.

Your application must reach us by Monday 14th March 2022 at 5pm.

You will not be able to choose which work placement you go on, but as part of the recruitment will we match trainees with the organisations and roles which match their interests and can offer them the best experience. The course will provide 6 week work placements at one of the partners including: LADbible Group, Lime Pictures, ITV Studios or Studio Lambert North, with more to be announced.

Please call SharpFutures on 0161 282 8380 or email enquiries@sharpfutures.org.uk with your query and we will try to help.
