SharpFutures are looking for an ambitious, education-focused project manager to lead our innovative Discover department. 

You’ll use your creative skills to develop a series of educational series, workshops, and events to inspire the youth of Greater Manchester, whilst working with a wide range of educational partners, high profile clients and leading creative digital businesses.

Based at The Sharp Project, Manchester, you’ll be working in a building designed to nurture your creative spirit and be part of a creative business community featuring a wide range of innovative and forward thinking companies. 

The Role

The Education Manager will be responsible for the management and delivery of the company’s Education Programme in accordance with SharpFutures aims and objectives. 

You’ll be working with children, teachers, and media partners, schools, colleges, and universities to plan and deliver inspirational educational projects to inspire young people from across Greater Manchester and raise awareness of creative digital and tech sectors.  

Bridging the gap between the required tech/digital skills within the sector, and the skills shortages industry is currently facing, you will lead the Discover Department on behalf of SharpFutures, with plenty of support from the team.

  • Create, develop, teach, and coordinate workshops, masterclasses, and educational events to increase the awareness and impact of Greater Manchester’s fast developing creative digital and tech sectors.  
  • Provide projects that bridge the skill gaps to creative digital and tech careers. 
  • Develop new and exciting partnerships with companies and educational institutions who compliment SharpFutures programmes and ethos. 
  • Identify and deliver innovative programmes of educational activity which generate income for the company, social impact upon the community, and build upon the assets and resources of SharpFutures educational programme(s).   

Key responsibilities  

  • Reporting to the CEO, you will research, devise and develop innovative education packages and projects in line with the company’s vision. 
  • Promote and develop the company’s educational activities to align with some of the UK’s most renowned educational establishments. 
  • Develop new and existing partnerships with schools, colleges, and universities, with a view to generate further educational opportunities, and income for the company.   
  • Plan, manage, teach, and implement the administration and delivery of educational programmes and workshops.  
  •  Identify potential partners and projects in line with the overall strategic direction of the SharpFutures Discover Education Programme.   
  • Agree budgets for education expenditure in conjunction with the CEO and Finance Director. You will be expected to monitor expenditure, and deliver earned income projections against the education budget.  
  • Cultivate, develop, and maintain relationships with partners, investors, and clients. 
  • Develop education resource packs to support the company’s education work.   
  • Ensure that the company’s Child Protection Policy is updated and adhered to, and be the company’s primary named contact for child protection and safeguarding in the organisation.   
  • Undertake additional training to keep up to date with developments in the education sector.  
  • Book and liaise with the freelance Workshop deliverers engaged in educational activities.  
  • Responsibility for ensuring all Workshops and educational programmes are compliant with Company standards, with all parties having had the enhanced DBS checks taken out where required. 
  • Support the monitoring and evaluation of all educational programmes and deliverables.  
  • Support with the preparation and collation of relevant statistical information for Company use.  
  • Provide information and reports as required by the Board and senior management.   
  • Maintain and regularly update a database of education-focused contacts, institutions, and establishments.   
  • Maintain data on educational programmes and initiatives, as required by investors, and complete final evaluation reports.  
  • Attend wider meetings and events to network and understand and innovate the initiatives in Manchester and Greater Manchester e.g., Digital Skills Meetings/creative digital networks.  

Special requirements

  • To submit to regular DBS enhanced checks.
  • To attend a selection of workshops and CPD.  
  • To attend all company activities relating to the role.
