What do you aspire to be?

I guess you could say I aspire to be a variety of things, I can’t seem to make my mind up which I love more; Graphic Design, Videography/Post-Production or Photography… So I aspire to make a living doing what I love, what more could I want right?

What do you do on a daily basis?

On a daily basis working for SharpFutures, my main priority is to supply marketing/design content (digital and print) for SharpFutures and their clients i.e. The Sharp Project and The Space Project. What content I produce varies depending on what the client wants, so it can be general way finding signs to go around the buildings to graphics for online purposes. Alongside from the graphic design area of my job I also help out a lot with Framed when it comes to filming/editing/motion graphics as well as filming and photography at events hosted by SharpFutures (this is a video I filmed and edited for the #WomenChangeMcr event hosted at The Sharp Project:

Can you tell me about your training?

Roughly every month we take some time out away from the office with The Whiteroom, this is to help us to progress with our Apprenticeship but it is also a chance for us to learn something new, what we learn can be literally anything within creative digital.

Overall, whats your favorite thing you’ve created?

In all honesty I can’t pick out my “most favorite” thing I have created while working for SharpFutures, my pallet of what I create is too vast to just pick out one thing… So I’m going to have to mention a few:[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]

Do you feel your apprenticeship has benefited you and if so how?

My Apprenticeship has benefited me in more ways than one, for a start, my confidence has risen immensely compared to when I first started, I now feel comfortable and confident around other colleagues and about the work I produce, at the start I was scared to send any work for approvals in case it got sent back for amendment, but that process helped me to learn that these amendments aren’t a bad thing, they are there to help you develop to a point where you won’t need amendments. Another way it has benefited me would be the fact that I get to wake up every morning and go to a job I love and enjoy.

What have you learnt whilst being at SharpFutures?

I have learnt that I have a strong passion towards graphic design through SharpFutures, I started working here with my head stuck in video and photography, not knowing that in a couple of months’ time I would be creating graphics for SharpFutures and their clients.

I have learnt how to present myself in a professional manner in front of clients and in the office which help both boost my representation as well as SharpFutures.

And last of all, why did you chose an apprenticeship?

I chose an Apprenticeship because I knew that was what I wanted, I wanted to learn, but I also wanted to gain experience and earn money in the process. I knew university wouldn’t be for me, so I started looking for Apprenticeships, they didn’t turn out exactly how I thought it would, but that’s a good thing as I have loved the past two years I have spent with this company and the people within SharpFutures, we’re all colleagues but I’ve also gained some really good friends who I feel will still remain my friends even after we’ve all moved on…

I would highly recommend an Apprenticeship to anyone! What better way to get your foot in the door of the industry than literally working in the industry?
