Work Placements with New Bridge Academy
Over an 11-week work placement programme we worked with three students from New Bridge Academy in Oldham.
The aim of the programme was to give the students an authentic workplace experience as part of a creative digital team so they worked on a range of technical and work place skills and were then set briefs by SharpFutures and our client Our Pass. The curriculum and syllabus was produced to ensure Gatsby Benchmarks and Key Stage 5 objectives and outcomes were achieved.
Each week the students travelled to The Sharp Project and took part in a full day’s schedule of workshops, sector overviews and given time to respond to the briefs. They were introduced to a range of creative digital programmes as well as learning to work collaboratively in a creative digital environment.
“Having this chance and opportunity is very important to me. I absolutely value it as the best thing that can happen to me. Everything I picked up from this will really help me. Using the software and tools you’ve taught us how to use like CapCut, Canva and WIX will actually help us in where we want to go” - Edward, New Bridge Academy
MMU Rise & SharpFutures
We have just completed the latest ‘Creative Digital Experts’ programme with students from Manchester Metropolitan University, in association with MMU Rise.
Students from all years of university and a mixture of disciplines taking part in workshops and training, discussions, and conversations, and working to creative briefs. They were given the opportunity to strengthen their creative and digital skills, gain support and guidance in building effective CVs and portfolios, tackle misinformation and assumptions regarding career pathways and collaborate in groups and demonstrate their learnings.
To conclude the 3-week programme, all groups presented and pitched their ideas and responses to the creative brief in front of the SharpFutures and MMU Rise team. Click here to find out more about the programme.
