CHANNEL 4 CONTENT CREATIVES - FAQs

Please note: applications for this course are closed.

Applications for the next round of Channel 4’s Content Creatives are now open. If you applied for the previous course and didn’t secure a place you can re-apply for this round.

This scheme aims to offer opportunities to those currently underrepresented in the creative industry, so we are particularly keen to hear from disabled people, ethnically diverse people and people from lower socio-economic groups.

Yes. The course application is open to those aged between 18 and 24. You must be within this age range on the closing date for applications – Monday 4th July 2022 at 1700.

The course is full-time for 14 weeks in total and starts on Monday 12th September 2022.

The 6-week SharpFutures training bootcamp is from Monday 12th September 2022 until Friday 21st October 2022 and then the 8-week work placement begins on Monday 24th October 2022 until Friday 16th December 2022.

Should your application reach the next stage of the process you will be required to have an interview.

The interviews will take place online between Monday 4th July 2022 – Friday 22nd  July 2022.

By Monday 15th August 2022 you will hear from us if you have successfully gained a place on the course. This will give you 4 weeks before the start date of the course in which you can inform your employer if needed.

The Content Creatives scheme will provide 8-week work placements at either 4Studio or at one of our creative partners. You will not be able to choose which work placement that you go, but as part of the recruitment will we match trainees on the scheme with the organisations and roles which most align with their interests and can offer them the best experience.

Placements will be in the closest city to where you live so for example if you live near Manchester, your placement will not be in Leeds.

The placements will be based at 4Studio or with a creative partner company based in Leeds or Greater Manchester. The partner companies (still to be announced) all make creative content for the purposes of advertising and/or entertainment. What these companies produce will vary, but all include creative opportunities in areas such as design, video production, social media, development and strategy.

If you have successfully gained a place on the course, you will be given a wage. The wage would be the real living wage which at the time is £9.90 per hour for 35 hours per week.

The course will require you to attend some days of the training in person in either Leeds or Manchester and you will have to be able to commute to your work placement possibly full-time, so only apply if you can easily access these cities from your home.

For the duration of the course (14 weeks) you’ll be supplied with a laptop so that you can access software, programmes and content during the SharpFutures training and your work placement. Some limited funds will be available to improve your internet/WIFI connectivity if required. All technology will be required to be returned at the end of the course.

The course is a paid for full time placement that will take place between 9am and 5pm, Monday to Friday so you would need to be available at those times. So if you are working full time you would not be able to take part.

The course is not open for those in full time education during the time of the course and work placement.

You do NOT need specific experience to take part in the course but knowledge of social media content, channels, streaming services (YouTube) and an interest in Channel 4 content would be a plus in your application.

Your application must reach us by Monday 4th July 2022 at 17:00.

Please call SharpFutures on 0161 282 8380 or email enquiries@sharpfutures.org.uk with your query and we will try to help.
