Free Tour of The Sharp Project or The Space Project for Manchester Secondary Schools

SharpFutures Discover are offering Manchester secondary schools one free tour of either The Sharp Project or The Space Project for up to 30 students.  During these visits, students and teachers will find out about the exciting CEIAG opportunities in the creative digital sector, as well as an insight into these vibrant creative digital production hubs.

What is SharpFutures Discover?

SharpFutures Discover delivers a variety of innovative Creative Digital packages at The Sharp Project and The Space Project, to help young people to get an insight into the variety of careers available in this growth sector, and discover the opportunities of working in the Creative Digital sector. Especially suited to Year 9’s choosing their options, Year 10’s and above interested in Creative Digital careers(CEIAG) and a fun opportunity for younger students and to inspire them to choose STEM and Creative Digital subjects in the future.

SharpFutures Discover offer young people, schools and parents the opportunity to:

  • Get an insight into career opportunities in the Creative Digital sector
  • Take part in hands-on workshops delivered by industry professionals
  • Visit working digital production hubs and meet businesses and their staff

Bespoke SharpFutures Discover Packages

Full Experience Day: For a truly interactive and enriching educational experience, make a full day of it and visit The Sharp Project for a tour of the building, followed by a Creative Digital Sector Overview and then the young people get to take part in four hands-on Creative Digital workshops led by industry professionals in the sector. At the end of the experience day, students are set a real live brief in a creative digital brief competition. The pupils who enter will be invited back to The Sharp Project for their entries to be judged by industry professionals, and the winner will be invited to our inaugural SharpFutures Graduation event where they can bring a guest and two chaperones from the school. The brief can be tied into part of your creative digital curriculum if agreed with SharpFutures in advance.

Half Experience Day: The day starts with a full tour of The Sharp Project where young people hear about and witness the variety of careers available in this sector, followed by a Creative Digital Overview. The group then attends two different creative digital based workshops ran by professional businesses at The Sharp Project. Option to stay for lunch in our campus.

With the above experience days, they include Creative Digital workshops led by professional businesses based at The Sharp Project, these workshops are:

Logo and Branding Design: Students will be given a real life brief and get to create their own logo

Freelance Photography: Learn the importance of lighting and how to take the perfect shot

Digital and Virtual Reality Forensics: Real Life CSI in Manchester with expert witnesses

Green Screen Journalism: Present your own news report as a director or the presenter

Coding Activities: Using Raspberry Pi’s, have a go at Scratch, Python and Sonic Pi

Gaming and VR: Discover cutting edge new gaming technology

 

Tour and Careers Overview: SharpFutures offers a full tour of The Sharp Project where young people hear about and witness the variety of careers available in this sector, followed by a Creative Digital Overview. Young people will get an insight into the wide variety or jobs across the sector, how they can start to develop their futures potential and how to find that first foot on the ladder.

Please note the free tour offer is only open to Manchester secondary schools but we offer packages for primary and secondary age from across Greater Manchester and further afield.
