What’s it about?
‘Women Change Manchester’ is a short film which will be showcased in a screening event at The Sharp Project in celebration of International Women’s Day, Tuesday 8th March and also rolled out as part of a large social campaign. It will focus on giving a platform to inspiring Mancunian women’s stories from the past and present and with local young women and students invited to pledge what difference they will make to Manchester in the future.
Confirmed presenters include Cat Lewis (CEO and Executive Producer at Nine Lives Media), Emma Goswell (BBC Radio Manchester and Gaydio presenter) and Rose Marley (COO of The Sharp Project/The Space Project and Director of SharpFutures) amongst many more.
Who can apply?
Our competition is the chance for young women and new entrants from Manchester to be part of our short film and present the story of a woman from Manchester’s history and pledge what difference they will make to the city in the future. It’s a great opportunity for any young women who are interested in presenting, working in TV/Media, finding out more about the Creative Digital Sector and gaining the unique experience of working with a professional company in a real Green Screen Studio.
How do I enter?
To be in with a chance of winning this unique experience, we want you to research and present a short one minute vlog about the Manchester suffragette, Emmeline Pankhurst, telling us how she helped change society for women and how you pledge to make a change to Manchester in the future.
Successful applicants will then be invited to The Sharp Project on Thursday 11th February to film their presentations in the Green Screen studios and invited to the live screening of our ‘Women Change Manchester’ film on International Women’s Day, Tuesday 8th March which also includes a tour of The Sharp Project, creative digital overview and networking opportunities.
Please send a link of your vlogs to firstname.lastname@example.org by Friday 22nd January, 12 pm along with your name, age and your status (i.e. which school/college you attend, current employment status etc). The winners will be announced on Tuesday 26th January.
Please note the competition will not be judged on the technical quality of the video, we are looking for engaging presenters and are happy to accept films taken from smartphones. If you have any questions call us on 0161 282 8380 or tweet us @sharpfutures
